9791 - Financial Analyst
|The IU Simon Cancer Center's Clinical Research Office is in search of a Financial Analyst. This position will manage clinical research trial study accounts as assigned for total pre-award account management including budget construction, budget negotiation, and accounts management, including analysis and auditing of vendor account billing. |
Primary Responsibilities include:
*Provide cradle to grave financial services for IUSCC-CRO sponsored clinical research studies as assigned. Prepare full cost analyses, evaluation of clinical research operational and infrastructure effort including study related costs for clinical research budgets. Negotiate clinical research budget terms with funding agencies on behalf of the University and the study's Principal Investigator per IUSCC-CRO SOPs. Meet with disease teams handling the trial to determine and document the standard of care and the research related procedures*Amend study budgets as required including re-negotiation following amendments*Conduct Medicare coverage analyses (MCAs) for such studies through the review of protocols, informed consent forms, contracts, Notices of Grant Awards, FDA letters, and Medicare provisions. Provide information to PIs and other staff to help determine the effectiveness of taking on a particular study. Route contract trial agreements for legal review*Conduct timely analysis and auditing of vendor submitted invoicing within the IU financial database(s) to limit liability*Assist research teams with any patient billing complaints with the appropriate vendor (IU Health) and ensure compliance via properly created and maintained grant charge forms in OnCore*Process all income generated by these studies ensuring that such income is properly applied to the correct account. Complete monthly internal billing reports including income distribution. Address any shortfalls in income*Manage study accounts for those assigned studies including establishing goals, ensuring appropriateness of expenditures and performing financial analysis to determine trends and needs for adjustments.
To be successful in this position, the candidate should have experience working with the financial and regulatory aspects of clinical trials; excellent communication and negotiation skills; ability to interpret policies and act independently in a highly complex regulatory/fiscal environment; highly motivated and able to multi-task; attention to detail.

Required: BS/BA degree in financial, economics or accounting related field from an accredited institution plus 3 years related experience; combination of related education and experience will be considered. Advanced knowledge in Microsoft Office systems, specifically Excel or similar finance/accounting programs.
Preferred: 1-2 years of related experience in clinical research. Grants and contract administration experience desired. Knowledge of clinical research budgetary and Medicare billing compliance issues and familiarity with scientific or medical terminology preferred.
