|Under close supervision of the Principal Investigator (PI), this position will work on studies in which we will be exploring the cellular and molecular basis of bone cell biology and the mechanism of action hormonal, mechanical and pharmatherapeutic agents and the characterization of the phenotype of genetically modified mice. |
Primary Responsibilities Include:
• Keep laboratory records in a notebook on a daily basis. Request quotes and place orders, maintenance of laboratory equipment, and maintenance of cell and reagent inventories. • Make solutions including buffers, fixatives and various solutions needed in running assays for cell culture or tissue processing. • Take care of mouse colonies, including keeping record of the mice, breeding, genotyping, performing injections, and pellet and pump implantation and participate in tissue collection from animals. • Assist with tissue culture, including obtaining primary calvaria cells, thawing, expanding and freezing cell lines and obtaining protein and RNA samples, DNA plasmid isolation and purification; transfections and transduction of genes into mammalian cells. • Perform in vitro testing including western blotting, RIA, PCR, real time RT-PCR, ELISA.
|Required: College level science; or high school diploma with one year of lab experience. |
Required knowledge, skills and abilities: Ability to follow oral or written instructions, protocols and procedures. Ability to accurately maintain laboratory records, cell and reagent inventory and animal data bases. Knowledge of microsoft office. Basic knwoledge of preparation of solution and buffers.
