9309 - Environmental Operations Supervisor, Residential Programs and Services
|Job Summary: Plans, schedules, coordinates, and supervises assignments of approximately 25 service custodial staff engaged in the care, cleaning and general housekeeping of university residence halls and offices. Determines priorities and adjusts schedules as needed; and establishes goals and objectives and conducts inspections to monitor and evaluate performance for compliance with established standards. Conducts meetings with staff to communicate new policies and procedures. |
Conducts training sessions for staff to include new employee safety training and orientation; and identifies needs, standardizes procedures and documents performance evaluation. Establishes and maintains communications with residential operations and facilities management to plan projects and resolve problems. Initiates and follows up on routine and special maintenance requests and reports to appropriate managers. Reports mechanical, structural and electrical conditions in assigned areas which are in need of repair or replacement.
Controls the issuance of supplies and equipment utilized by custodial staff; researches new products, sets up demonstrations and tests and evaluates for safety and cost-effectiveness. Identifies proper products for specific environment and recommends purchase. Designs and implements new procedures; and participates in the design, revision and implementation of departmental operating procedures. Maintains records systems to document personnel attendance and performance. Responds to conflict and administers corrective action as appropriate; prepares daily and special reports to the management team; and responds to emergency situations in assigned areas not necessarily occurring during the scheduled shift.

REQUIRED: High School Diploma or GED and two years of experience in institutional custodial service, with one year in a leadership or supervisory role.
Preferred: Some formal post-secondary education.
