8821 - Computing Service Technician
|This position will work with faculty and staff providing hardware and software support to Windows and MacIntosh users. Point of contact for questions. Respond to service and trouble requests. Resolve computer and network problems. Install and maintain desktop; mobile devices; printers and software as directed. |
Basic knowledge of computers – replacing internal components such as hard drives/memory/mother boards. Working knowledge of troubleshooting printer issues, minor repairs. Attention to detail to perform inventory of existing equipment. Reading and documenting device serial numbers and locations. Familiarity with IUPUI campus and IU/IU Health campus IT systems is desired.
|Required: Associate degree in computer technology or a closely related field from an accredited institution and one year of experience working with computer networks. Directly related work experience may be substituted at a ratio of two years progressively more responsibility for each year of education. Appropriate industry certifications or a combination of certifications and experience will be considered. Excellent communication and customer service skills. Preferred: One year of front line, tier 1 Windows or Mac computer support experience including project management and asset tracking. Ability to perform physical work. Knowledge of proper lifting technique for moving computers. This will be a major part of the job. |
