8724 - Assistant Manager, Academic Administration

The Department of Medicine is seeking an Assistant Manager, Academic Administration. This position will provide leadership and manage processes related to faculty recruitment, promotion & tenure for the Department of Medicine and ensure that regulations are followed.

Duties include, but are not limited to, providing administrative support to assigned divisions in planning, implementation and coordination of human resource responsibilities; overseeing the department’s processes for faculty recruitment, including managing the dual-faculty appointments with Indiana University Health Physicians, Eskanazi Medical Group, and/or the VA Hospital. Overseeing the Staff recruitment, training and providing guidance to the HR Specialists in those processes. Responsibilities also involve guiding the faculty in the Promotion and Tenure process by reviewing dossiers for thoroughness, structure, and complying with university guidelines. The position works closely with the HR Manager to give direction on conflict resolutions or discipline, create and update job descriptions; serve as personnel coordinator, instructing and assisting the faculty in administrative procedures as well as problem solving; assist the department and divisions visa applications requests.

To be successful the candidate should have good supervisory skills, problem solving skills; excellent written and verbal communication skills with a professional attitude.

Required: Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution, plus 3-5 years progressive experience in supervision, personnel management, preferably including faculty recruitment as well as promotion and tenure.
