8631 - IT Support & Programming Technician
|Working with the University Client Support Team, the IT Support & Programming Technician will provide technical support for staff, public, and classroom desktop computers and technology of University Library. Complete assigned projects such as hardware repair, programming web pages, and other essential projects. |
Key duties and responsibilities: Serve as sole on-call UL technical consultant for emergency requests covering library networking, software applications, and computer hardware questions and problems, including troubleshooting and rebuilding of staff computers as needed; Work on highly critical Client Support Team projects such as coordinating wired networking upgrades, camera installation upgrades, web development support for the Client Support Team Services web page; Maintain inventory of equipment as well as research and purchase of new equipment; Work on networking and programming projects as assigned; attend staff meetings.
|Required: Bachelor degree from an accredited institution in Computer Science, Computer Information Technology or other technical field, plus 1 year of desktop technical support or related experience. Equivalent combinations of experience and education may be considered on a 2:1 ratio. |
Knowledge of computers, peripherals, hardware devices, and various software applications; proficiencies in programming language such as PHP, MySQL, HTML, and CSS. Excellent communication and customer service skills. Knowledge of Dell and Apple hardware, tablets such as iPads.
