|The Innovate Indiana Fund (IIF) is an Indiana University-focused venture fund. IIF makes investments in Indiana University-related companies, which include (but are not limited to): •Companies that have licensed Indiana University technology •Companies that have Indiana University faculty, staff, graduates and/or students on their founding team |
The IIF is a return-driven fund that also has as part of its mandate to enhance the entrepreneurial culture at Indiana University. In keeping with these goals, the Fund develops and maintains relationships with a diverse set of people within Indiana, such as: •Indiana University faculty, staff, key alumni, and students •Entrepreneurs •Venture capitalists and angel investors •State and local government The Innovate Indiana Fund is seeking a self-motivating, high energy individual who can assist the VP of Entrepreneurial Ventures in identifying and investing in the most compelling start up opportunities within the IU investment universe. The level of hire and responsibility of the position (Analyst is entry level; Associate is higher level) will be determined by the skill and experience of the selected candidate.
To accomplish the tasks of the position, under the supervision of his/her supervisor, the candidate is expected to use his/her skills to:
•Perform diligence on new opportunities, including: oTechnology assessment oMarket analysis oCompetitive analysis oIndustry analysis oFinancial modeling oReference checks oCustomer calls •Administer the investment decision process: oMaintain the scheduling of and communication with the Fund’s investment committee oProduce appropriate documentation for the investment process •Establish and connect with community-based entrepreneurs: oBecome a part of the “new” entrepreneurial community evolving in central Indiana oEstablish relationships with the community of developers/accelerators in central Indiana oSource new investment opportunities •Assist with the management of IURTC’s investment portfolio •Work on other projects as assigned by supervisor
The successful candidate will have: •Excellent time management and communication skills •Ability to anticipate future needs •Ability to learn new subject matter quickly •Familiarity with the start-up environment/challenges •Ability to make decisions in the absence of complete information •Ability to prioritize tasks, considering both urgency and criticality in the process •Project management experience
|Minimum Qualifications • Bachelor’s Degree or demonstrated knowledge, skills, and abilities comparable to a Bachelor’s Degree • At least 2 years in a technology and/or startup environment |
Preferred Qualifications: • Previous experience in an investment role
