8434 - HVAC Mechanic
|The Department of Campus Facility Services (CFS) is seeking a journey-level HVAC Mechanic. |
Key Responsibilities include: • Install, maintain, and repair heat, ventilation, refrigeration/cooling systems. • Adjust or replace worn or defective mechanisms and parts and reassemble repaired systems. • Diagnose, troubleshoot and repair various air handling, refrigeration and air conditioning systems. • Assist in bidding and design work with manager. Train apprentices and other personnel one-on-one as needed. • Assist with snow removal activities as necessary. Must be available to work during inclement weather (i.e. snow and ice) when weather emergencies dictate that the CFS department is needed to take care of the campus. • Drive University vehicles as needed. Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned, including general building maintenance duties.
The successful candidate should have knowledge of applicable building codes, regulations or ordinances and knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved with the trade. Must be able to read and interpret drawings, blueprints and/or schematics, and to determine the kind of tools and equipment needed to do a job. Basic computer proficiency is required, as well as the abilities to read and write English, and to make basic math calculations. This position requires the ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions, as well as the ability to work in team environment and to interact and communicate with a wide variety of people.
This position is required to be available to work during inclement weather and work any shift as needed (i.e. 24-hour a day emergency response). Salary will be $18.83/hr. Multiple positions available w. varying shifts.

Required: High School Diploma or GED. Certificate in relevant DOL apprenticed trade OR five years verifiable journey level experience. Valid driver's license and ability to maintain university driving privileges. May be required to acquire and maintain position-required certifications, such as CFS Universal handling.
