8411 - Secretary/Receptionist

University Information Technology Services (UITS) is seeking a part-time lobby receptionist in the Indianapolis Office located on the IUPUI campus in the Informatics and Communications Technology Complex (ICTC) at 535 West Michigan Street, Indianapolis.

The primary purpose of this position is to provide backup coverage for the departmental secretary. The duties include, but are not limited to the following: Answer incoming telephone calls; greet guests and direct them to the appropriate person or destination; respond to general questions about the departments in the ICTC; provide loaner cardkeys to UITS staff and visitor parking permits for UITS guests; check UITS conference rooms daily; maintain supply cabinets on the IT side of the ICTC; provide coverage for the departmental secretary during morning, lunch and afternoon breaks, and during vacations.

Regular contact with University personnel and outside clients requires excellent communication skills and professionalism. Proficiency in computing (Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel) and strong organizational skills are required in order to balance multiple projects and priorities. Experience with office equipment required. Ability to interpret calls and direct appropriately required. Must be self-motivated and able to solve customer problems.

Work Schedule: Monday – Friday from 10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m., allowing some flexibility with the hours.

High school diploma or equivalent required. Three years secretarial experience required. Secretarial experience in an academic office is preferred.
