8308 - Research Analyst I


The School of Dentistry has missions in education, service and research. This position is critical to the ongoing educational and research needs of the Division of Dental Biomaterials. Pre-doctoral students pursuing research experience as well as graduate students, post-doctoral fellows, and visiting scientists depend upon this individual for successful completion of their research activities. In addition to the Dental Biomaterials graduate program, others supported by this individual include the IUSD MSD programs in Prosthodontics, Operative Dentistry, Endodontics, Pediatric Dentistry, Preventive Dentistry, Orthodontics, Periodontics, the PhD program in Dental Sciences, the IUPUI Department of Biomedical Engineering, as well as faculty grant research and contract testing.



Primary Responsibilities Include:

• Performs mechanical and physical property testing. Fabricate specimen molds and specimens. Oversee the preparation and maintenance of a variety of testing machines. Evaluate the data and perform statistical analyses and compile data for the PI for inclusion in reports. • Serve as safety monitoring officer. Assure that laboratory meets safety requirements as monitored by campus safety offices. Inform the Division Director of any deficiencies, provide recommendations for rectifying deficiencies and ensure compliance. • Coordinate, schedule, and provide instruction for the use of lab equipment and facility by faculty, students, and staff on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis. • Train research technicians and student research employees. • Supervise and perform the maintenance, repair and acquisition of specialized equipment as well as laboratory equipment, hardware and software. • Interface and coordinate collaborative studies. Provide instruction for students and faculty from other departments and schools using the laboratory in collaborative projects. Manage the scheduling of these activities. • Provide supervision of lab when faculty are not available or away; responsible for opening and closing the lab during standard operating hours (8:00 am - 5 pm). • Order and maintain inventory of laboratory supplies.

 
Required: Master’s Degree in Science from an accredited institution; or Bachelor’s Degree in Science plus three years of research experience required.
