|Job Summary: Produces broadcast pieces for radio, TV and online focused on education policy and its impact on Hoosiers. Researches complicated topics, interviews expert subjects, uses technical skills to light, shoot and edit interviews, and writes balanced pieces for broadcast on radio and TV. |
Leads the StateImpact website and maintains and builds an online following around coverage of how decisions by state government affect citizens, particularly around the issue of education. Interprets complex and detailed governmental information in ways that make the material accessible and understandable, including the creation of graphics and interpretive charts. Serves as part of a team that is the region's most authoritative voice on education and local politics by producing original content and aggregating materials from elsewhere online; and analyzes differing points of view.

REQUIRED: Bachelor's degree in journalism or related field and two years professional journalism experience.
Combinations of related education and experience may be considered.
Demonstrated excellence in analysis, interpretation, and news judgment; and ability to work quickly and efficiently under deadline pressure with little supervision. Ability to work unusual hours and extended time frames; and demonstrated experience in news and public affairs productions. Possess exceptional verbal and written communication skills.

Note: This is a full-time, exempt, professional position with a salary range of $35,000 - $42,000, depending on the extent of relevant experience.
