10380 - Assistant Business Manager

Will provide administrative and fiscal support for accounting, financial management, decision support and reporting functions for administrative, research administration, education mission programs, and clinical mission related programs for one or more Divisions as assigned. Serve as fiscal officer delegate.

Duties & responsibilities include, but are not limited to directing the daily processing of purchasing, accounts receivable, and accounts payable activity; monitor accounts and resolve problems; ensure deposit of all funds to the correct accounts. Serve as a liaison with various departments. Oversee University Medical Diagnostic Associates checking account, issue checks, perform monthly reconciliation, and request reimbursement as needed. Will prepare and maintain a wide variety of financial reports, including monthly cash flow and profit/loss reports for mission cost centers. Prepare responses to survey requests. Prepare ad-hoc decision-support reports; meet with senior-level management to present data. Will serve as project manager for various high level projects and serve as a financial analyst and departmental resource for the University Financial Information System and EPIC system. Develop and provide training. Develop FIS queries and templates for decision support. Develop consolidated financial reports. Assist with development and preparation of annual department budget. Responsible for Division capital equipment inventory and certification. Perform annual capital equipment inventory and certification. Assist with pre/post-award research work as needed.

The successful candidate must possess strong communication and interpersonal skills and be able to prioritize various projects with daily operational duties and complete all projects on schedule with a high level of attention to detail and accuracy. Must have excellent organizational and time management skills; proficiency with Microsoft Excel and must be able to work independently and as an effective team member.

Required: Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution, plus 3 year experience in fiscal management, accounting, financial analysis, and financial reporting.

Strong preference will be given to candidates familiar with IU Financial Systems, such as FIS, HRMS, etc; have worked in an academic setting especially handling grants or research.
